Java4Kids coffee stations coming soon to credit union branches. Yours?

Credit unions are always looking for new and innovative ways to drive member loyalty and increase member engagement.

Now, Tyfone and DBSI are partnering with Java4Kids in a program that can achieve those goals while also strengthening community ties and doing good for those in need.

Java4Kids partners with credit unions to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through CU4Kids, a non-profit organization. It accomplishes that goal by selling ethically sourced coffee online.

When members buy Java4Kids coffee, they’re directly contributing to life-saving care and research through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which then directs funds to the 170 non-profit children’s hospitals they support.

“You already serve coffee — why not serve coffee that saves lives,” said Josh DeTar, Tyfone’s EVP of evangelism.

Tyfone, a Portland-based digital banking provider, is partnering with DBSI, a leading financial transformation firm, to offer interactive Java4Kids coffee stations at credit union branches across the U.S.

Participating institutions can determine their level of commitment, with simple offerings including digital signage, QR codes and bags of coffee to more complex offerings including full-service coffee shops.

DBSI provides customized designs ensuring brand and aesthetic consistency with the credit union’s branch.

“At DBSI, we’ve always believed that transformational experiences extend beyond physical spaces-they’re about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said EJ Kritz, Chief Experience Officer at DBSI.

Members can grab a cup of Java4Kids coffee while conducting their banking, knowing they’re helping local kids. The member scans the QR code, orders a bag of coffee, it shows up on their door a few days later, generating a $5 donation to CU4Kids.

The credit union is then seen as a champion for children’s healthcare in its community, supporting CU4Kids and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“We launched Java4Kids to raise funds for children’s health and to support communities through coffee sales, and since then, have looked for more opportunities to get credit unions involved,” DeTar said. “There are 140 million Americans that are members of credit unions. If 1% of members buy one bag of Java4Kids coffee a year, that’s $7 million in donations to CU4Kids.”

Credit unions are able to tailor the partnership level and design to their own specific needs. DBSI will handle the entire installation process, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

The program is offering credit unions three basic levels of engagement.
