Washington-based credit union decides to ‘part ways’ with new CEO
Ryan Drake only held the CEO position for a year before he and the credit union’s board decided a change was needed.
Our Community Credit Union in Shelton, Washington, is looking for a new chief executive.
The $608 million-asset credit union announced Jan. 7 that President and CEO Ryan Drake has left the company.
“After a year of dedicated service…the OUR CU board of directors has made the thoughtful and difficult decision to part ways with Ryan Drake,” the organization said in a post on its website. “This decision reflects a shift in strategic goals and is not a result of any wrongdoing.”
The search for a new CEO will begin immediately, with the board aiming to define a hiring timeline by the end of January, the company said.
Former CEO Bert Fisher, who Drake replaced at the beginning of 2024, has been named interim CEO.
“We are blessed with a dedicated staff who are truly the heartbeat of OUR CU. Paired with our supportive membership and community, this ensures a smooth transition for the credit union,” Fisher said in the post.
Fisher retired at the end of 2023. He began working for the credit union in 2005 when he was hired as chief operations officer.
He was then appointed president and CEO in 2011 to replace Joe Robertson.
Drake joined the Our Community Credit Union leadership team in 2012 when he was hired as chief financial officer.
Our Community Credit Union has 32,000 members and earned roughly $4.6 million through the third quarter of 2024, a 21% decrease from a year earlier, according to call report data from the National Credit Union Administration.
