Nebraska Credit Union league promotes from within for next leader

Brandon Luetkenhaus will succeed Scott Sullivan – who is retiring on June 30th – as the trade group’s president and chief executive.

Brandon Luetkenhaus has been named the next president and Chief Executive Officer of the Nebraska Credit Union League effective July 1.

Luetkenhaus will succeed Scott Sullivan, who is retiring on June 30th after 36 years of service at the League with the last 25 of those years as president and CEO.

“I am excited to work with Brandon and appreciate his extensive League dedication. His experience and leadership qualities are exceptional. He is well-known in the credit union industry and is a strong voice for all credit unions,” said Robin Larsen, President and CEO of $1.3 billion-asset Cobalt Credit Union in Papillion and League Board Chairwoman.

Luetkenhaus began his career at the League in 2004 as the association’s Director of Government Affairs and, most recently, served as Chief Advocacy Officer in which he advocated the interests of credit unions while working closely with Nebraska’s credit unions, governmental bodies and partners in the industry.

“Over the past twenty years, it has been my privilege to advocate for Nebraska’s credit unions, and I am humbled by the board’s confidence in me to lead this organization into the future,” Luetkenhaus said in a press release.

The League recognized Sullivan with the Hal Allen Legislative Leadership Award during its Annual Meeting & Convention Awards Banquet in Omaha earlier this month. The award was introduced in 2010 and bears the name of its first recipient, Hal Allen.

Sullivan joined the League in 1989 as its first Government Affairs Specialist. He was promoted to president and CEO in 2000.

The Nebraska Credit Union League is a not-for-profit trade association that represents the interest of Nebraska’s state and federally chartered credit unions and their nearly 520,000 members. The League was organized in 1934.

“[Luetkenhaus] consistently advocates for the Credit Union’s interests within government and regulatory frameworks and serves as a liaison with government officials and monitors legislation. I look forward to watching Brandon lead the League to new heights.”
