Georgia, Michigan credit unions name their next CEOs.

Georgia’s Own taps longtime executive Eric Broome to succeed Dave Preter, while Michigan’s TLC Community Credit Union promotes 24-year veteran Alycia Nichols.

Two credit unions have named their next chief executives, turning to longtime insiders to lead their organizations through their next chapters.

Georgia’s Own Credit Union in Atlanta has selected Eric Broome to succeed Dave Preter, while TLC Community Credit Union in Adrian, Mich., has named Alycia Nichols to take over from Jeff Brehmer.

Broome, currently Georgia’s Own’s executive vice president, brings more than 21 years of credit union industry experience and a deep understanding of the $4.2 billion institution. He will become the fifth president and CEO in the credit union’s 92-year history.

Preter has led Georgia’s Own for nearly 18 years. Broome said he was honored to succeed him and continue serving the credit union’s 238,034 members, employees and communities.

The leadership change comes as Georgia’s Own reports a significant financial setback. The credit union lost more than $56 million in the first three quarters of 2026, compared with earnings of $10.3 million for all of 2025, according to NCUA call report data.

Georgia’s Own agreed in 2022 to acquire Vinings Bank in Smyrna, Ga.

In Michigan, Nichols will become TLC Community Credit Union’s president and CEO on July 1, 2027. She will succeed Brehmer, who plans to retire after eight years at the helm.

Personalization in digital banking should go beyond changing colors, rearranging menus or adding a favorite team’s logo. Real personalization starts with knowing who the account holder is and understanding what they need.

Credit Union of Colorado (CU of CO)’s experience shows why trust comes first. By combining Cryptographic Device Authentication (CDA) with real-time fraud intelligence, the credit union strengthened security, reduced friction by 90% and cut manual fraud reviews by 98%.

Nichols joined TLC as a part-time teller in 2002. Over the next 24 years, she worked in member service, branch management, mortgages and operations before being named executive vice president in 2022. She currently oversees lending and operations.

Her appointment comes after a period of substantial growth at the Adrian-based credit union. When Nichols joined, TLC had $197 million in assets and three branches. It now has $939 million in assets, 47,594 members and nine branches.

TLC earned $8.7 million in the first three quarters of 2026, up from $7.3 million in the same period a year earlier.

Board Chair Meredith Francis said Nichols understands the credit union and the communities it serves. The board is confident she can lead its next stage of growth while maintaining its local identity, Francis said.

Nichols said she plans to invest in employees, deepen member relationships and preserve what she described as TLC’s “local, people-helping-people spirit” as the credit union grows.

“Eric brings a unique combination of strategic vision, expertise and a deep commitment to our member-owners and the credit union mission.”
